Introduction

Samikaran Charitable Trust organized a community welfare initiative focused on women’s health and environmental awareness in the Chandivali area. The drive aimed to distribute reusable sanitary pad kits to women, while simultaneously educating them on menstrual health, hygiene practices, and the benefits of adopting sustainable alternatives to conventional sanitary products.

 

Objectives

·       To provide access to hygienic and eco-friendly menstrual solutions.

·       To educate women about the menstrual cycle and the importance of ​personal health care.

·       To encourage safe exercise and lifestyle practices during menstruation.

·       To create awareness about environmental sustainability through the use ​of cloth-based reusable sanitary pads.

 

Key Highlights of the Drive

·       Distribution of reusable sanitary pad kits to more than 100 women from ​the community.

·       Awareness session conducted on menstrual health, breaking ​misconceptions, and promoting open discussions.

·       Practical guidelines shared on the usage, washing, and storage of ​reusable pads.

·       Demonstration of simple exercises beneficial for relieving menstrual ​cramps and promoting overall well-being.

·       Discussions on how adopting reusable pads helps in reducing plastic ​waste, protecting the environment, and providing an affordable long- ​term solution, as these pads are durable and can last up to two years.

 

Environmental and Social Impact

·       The reusable sanitary pads are made of cotton cloth, free from harmful ​plastics and chemicals, ensuring both safety and comfort.

·       Each woman shifting to reusable pads contributes to minimizing plastic ​waste, which significantly reduces the burden on landfills.
